IF I AM BORN AGAIN

In the footsteps of writing

If I were reborn in unknown places,

with a complex variety of people,

and they asked me which country I would prefer,

spontaneously, without hesitation, I would answer:

Certainly Greece,

the immortal and all-powerful Pallas!

For the unique, life-giving light, the blue sea,

the hospitality, the unrivaled honor,

which has no equal in the world!

For its glorious history, Homer, the Odyssey, the Iliad,

that light up the world like an unquenchable lamp.

Aristotle, Plato, Socrates,

their philosophy adorns all states.

Her holy struggles for freedom and democracy,
