A little while ago, he arrived in Crete Kyriakos Mitsotakis to be informed and to see closely the damages caused after the 5,8 magnitude earthquake in Heraklion.
Mr. Mitsotakis was in France, returned to Greece and landed directly at the airport of Heraklion, where he was welcomed by Lefteris Avgenakis.
The Prime Minister then went to Houdetsi Archanon Asterousia, an area that is also experiencing severe damage from the earthquake and talked to residents and EMAK executives. An elderly woman told him referring to the deadly earthquake "I am 80 years old and I have never seen this before" - "We are here to help" answered Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
After the earthquake, Mr. Mitsotakis ordered the political leadership of the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection to go to the area and to quickly develop the mechanism to deal with the situation that has been caused. The state aid is estimated at 25-30 million euros and will be paid directly to the victims, while further aid needs will be calculated after the autopsies.
