The Amorgos Women's Cultural Association is organizing this year in beautiful Amorgos, for the 16th consecutive year, the "Amorgos International Short Film Festival", the 8th Film Academy, as well as the 22nd "YPERIA" Conference on Culture, from November 13 to 18, 2025.
The “Amorgos Film Festival” has now been recognized internationally and is an official member of the International Committee of Tourist Film Festivals CIFFT, based in Vienna. Through this participation, the promotion of Amorgos, but also of the whole of Greece abroad, is enhanced, attracting filmmakers, audiovisual professionals and culture lovers from all over the world. Specifically, this year's Festival is expected to welcome approximately 100 participants from Greece, Europe, America and Asia, who will have the opportunity to get to know the place, exchange views and be inspired by the natural and cultural landscape of Amorgos, this unique island-window to the light of the immense Aegean blue.
Theme and title of the 16th Festival "Digital Renaissance: Cinema in the Age of Artificial Intelligence", as the Festival chooses to focus this year on the role of new technologies and artificial intelligence in contemporary cinema. It explores how tools such as virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), deep fakes and AI content creation tools are changing methods of production, storytelling and presentation, while also influencing the tourism sector.
At the same time, the theme of the 22nd “YPERIA” is "Promoting Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age", since the Conference program focuses on the possibilities offered by technology for the protection, promotion and promotion of cultural heritage, with tools such as 3D imaging, VR and the digitization of monuments. In addition, the interconnection of cultural heritage with gastronomy and the environment will be highlighted, enhancing the sustainable tourism experience.
The 16th Amorgos International Film Festival aspires to be, for another year, a meeting point of culture, creativity and innovation, highlighting Amorgos - this enchanting Cycladic island - as a modern cultural and cinematic destination. The works of the “Amorgos International Short Film Festival”, the Film Academy and the “YPERIA” Conference take place every year at the emblematic “Aegialis Hotel & Spa”, the only five-star hotel in Amorgos.
The Festival is co-organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Amorgos and the Region of South Aegean, with the kind support of the Greek National Tourism Organization and the General Secretariat for Aegean and Island Policy.
