the minister Digital Governance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis described the resources of about 6 billion euros as the "first Marshall Plan" for the IT and telecommunications sector in Greece. Mr. Pierrakakis stressed that in order to take advantage of these opportunities, the tenders for the projects must proceed very quickly, so that they can be implemented in extremely tight schedules.
"Especially with regard to the Recovery Fund, the Commission had limited that about 20% (of the resources) in each country should be channeled to IT and telecommunications projects. In Greece, this percentage is about 25% and together with the other financial possibilities (NSRF, new NSRF, national funds and approaches to PPP projects) they create a very large source of funding, which enables us to implement not just what is necessary, but also the desired (…) We are talking roughly about 6 billion euros for this area in the coming years (…). I am optimistic that this huge, very difficult project will be achieved and that all the competitions will be able to come out on time ".
"Digital transformation is not a matter of choice but of survival, and whoever cannot follow it is out of season. "With the Recovery Fund, we are given the opportunity for an update (upgrade) of the country's operating system, the opportunity to upgrade both its software and hardware" noted Alexandros Bregiannis, Wind's public sector project manager.
