The meeting took place in a very good atmosphere. President of the Greek Health Tourism Council – Elitour, and President of the ISA Dr. George Patoulis, With the Minister of Immigration and Asylum, Mr. Thanos Plevris, on the subject of the creation of Medical Visa (Medi Visa).
This initiative by Mr. Patoulis aims to strengthen Medical Tourism, Health - Wellness and Longevity Tourism, creating new prospects for our country as an international health destination.
The meeting was held following contacts with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. George Gerapetritis and Minister of Health, Mr. Adonis Georgiades, as part of an overall strategy to facilitate access for patients from all over the world to high-quality medical services in Greece.
The aim of the initiative is to facilitate the movement of international patients from non-Schengen countries who wish to travel to Greece for healthcare services. Today, many applications from these countries are cancelled or face significant delays, resulting in health tourists turning to other destinations for medical tourism. The creation of the Medical Visa (Medi Visa) comes to fill this gap, facilitating procedures and enhancing the attractiveness of our country.
At the same time, the initiative aims to establish Greece as a global benchmark in health, well-being and longevity, creating significant benefits both for the national economy and for the return of highly qualified scientists (brain gain).
The meeting was attended by Manos Logothetis, Secretary General for Migration Policy, Dimitrios Glymis, Secretary General for the Reception of Asylum Seekers, and Giorgos Stefanakos, Director General of the Hellenic Migration and Asylum Service.
