An important event with a large audience was held at a Cinema Night with the screening of the film “My Uncle Archimedes” directed by George Agathonikiadis, at the Giambourani -ARISTON A packaging plant, in the Arkouda - Moulki area {Ancient Sikyona} in Kiato, Corinth on Sunday, August 24. This event was held in collaboration with Czech Culture in Greece. A Sunday summer August night with cinema beyond the everyday and the trivial.
The film is a creation of the acclaimed Czech director, with Greek roots, Giorgos Agathonikiadis. This award-winning film "My Uncle Archimedes" stars two of the greatest Czech actors. (Ondrej Vetchý & Miroslav Donutil). The screening took place within the framework of the 4th cycle of events, by the Artistic Group "Metamorphosis" in collaboration with Czech Culture in Greece.
It was presented nationwide for the first time, in the prefecture of Corinth. The script focuses on and deals with the sensitive issue of political refugees who were forced to leave Greece in the 1940s and 1950s due to the then civil war in our country, where this is a gray area of modern Greek history, which we rather avoid discussing... With excellent cinematography with amazing performances by the actors with intelligent humor. A film full of anthropocentrism regardless of nationality, where it reminds us that love is humanity but also that love for the homeland along with friendship is above any political expediency. It speaks to the hearts of the viewers, awakened memories from the past and was warmly applauded by the audience that was present.
Brief greetings were delivered by: Ms. Lucie Kuligová, Director of CZECH CULTURE IN, the representative of the Chamber of Corinth, Mr. Bastiras Theofanis, as the film was placed under the auspices of the Chamber of Corinth.
The event was also attended by the director of the film, Mr. George Agathonikiadis. Also present was the writer and theater critic, Mr. Leandros Polenakis. The invited speaker at the event was the Professor of Clinical Pharmacology of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki - Doctor, Mr. Dimitris Kouvelas. After the screening of the film, all three of them made their own personal statements and also answered questions from the audience and chatted with them.
The film was presented on Czech television in 2018, has been screened in many European countries, where in 2019 it was awarded at the AVANCA International Festival in Portugal.
The event was placed under the auspices of the Corinthian Chamber of Commerce as mentioned above, but also under the auspices of UNESCO Chios Oinousses Psara, following the proposal of its vice president, Ambassador for Greece and Cyprus of the International Humanitarian Organization "WE CARE FOR HUMANITY" and Public Relations Officer of the World Union of Editors, Ms. Aikaterini Glykou - Fotinia, who also attended the event.
Greeting messages were also sent by the well-known actress Ms. Efi Papatheodorou and the art historian Ms. Marina Goda.
The Artistic Group "Metamorfosi" Production Company, has already had several decades of presence, that is, many years, in the prefecture of Corinth in the beautiful Kiato. With important productions and substantial events which over the years have had a very great impact, both among the public of the prefecture of Corinth and the surrounding prefectures, but also with a large attendance and attendance by the public of Athens.
It is a self-financed company by the sisters - daughters of the late businessman Giambouranis Theodoros, with great and active participation from his wife and their mother, led by Konstantina Giambourani. They deserve many congratulations and thanks, which the public has already generously offered them from the heart all these years of their creation.
Our encouragement and wish for this artistic group is its longevity, so that it can create many more presentations and events in the region.
