VISIT TO THE MUSEUM BY FIJET JOURNALIST
MAGDA KARAGIANNIOTOU – MYSTIKOU
Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates with 2.000.000 inhabitants and 200 nationalities, is a magnet for the economy, culture and the unique beauty of its geographical location. It is built on the southeastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula along the Persian Gulf with the excellent administration of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed AL Nahyan. A modern world mixes with the locals and everything flows with great balance. Its economic strength due to the development of the economy and in different sectors creates a climate of superior cultural and social structure. Today I had the pleasure of visiting the Natural History Museum in Abu Dhabi.
At first glance you understand that they have created a modern building with modern architecture that supports multiple geometric shapes. Simple and austere, the external environment embraces the Museum with small green gardens and small sculptures at key points. The sculptures are animals and birds mainly of local natural fauna and flora. Gazelles and eagles hold the scepters. When you enter the large hall you encounter the huge in height and width Dinosaurs.
The history of the Dinosaurs unfolds magnificently with the individual inscriptions of their chronological existence. A semiotic reference that they disappeared from the earth after the fall of a huge asteroid 66 million years ago. Next room a sky with stars and comets that illuminate a starry sky. The story tells the big Bang of the creation of the stars with images on a giant screen. In the center the fiery round mass that changes colors. The Sun the planets around such as the Earth and the Moon according to scientific knowledge are analyzed with images.
We can admire the exhibition of precious small and large asteroids that fell to Earth. Precious rocks from space with dazzling colors and two volumes with considerable weight stand out. The visitor can touch the rocks that are similar to those of the earth. Next are the Fossils that were found mainly in the sea and look like stone replicas of animals in a horizontal position and some with a small volume. Rooms with animals from all over the planet are on display in their natural environment that was cleverly designed by experts. Tall trees, plants and birds are a monument of the historical heritage of the earth that we must love and preserve. Large and small display cases with stuffed wild animals in multiple rows keep our eyes open.
All periods of animal development on earth have their place in this Museum. The past unites us with the present and teaches us with the wisdom of our preservation in the future. The creation of this Museum functions as a cognitive point of view to love what nature has given us. The Natural History Museum is a pole of attraction for the beauty and complexity of life in the chain of existence of the human species.
A visit to this heavenly world of animals may make us more skeptical about the general management of the planet that hosts us. I will never forget the kind smiles of the people of the Museum who welcomed us and their question "Did you enjoy your visit to the Museum?" and "We look forward to seeing you again." Everything works perfectly, even the recreational areas within the Museum, such as the coffee and food areas with a view of the Dinosaurs. Comfortable corridors with small sofas for one person to rest because the Museum is spread out in many rooms.
I left with the pulse of the exhibition in my heart and mind.
