Our era has literally escaped normality and all of us, helpless to react, wonder where we are going! politicians They disappoint us daily with their tolerance of injustice, which afflicts citizens, sometimes by ignoring serious offenses by those in power and sometimes by the decisions of the courts. Thus, we have come to devalue politicians and to be indifferent even to the national elections, believing that everyone is the same. At the same time, the collectivity of people has disappeared and protest rallies do not find the expected response. The new generation She has become "apolitical", her mentality is far from that of her parents and, having been influenced by the period of austerity and the demonic virus, her only goal remains survival and, of course, money.
The misfortune is that the mentality and reactions of the citizens that I mentioned are similar in Europe, where citizens are forced to resort to extreme political forces, which supposedly promise a better life. This turmoil in the political system favors the game of the powerful today, the Trump-Netanyahu duo, to arbitrarily carry out their plans for the reordering of the world, always according to their own interests. Today we are experiencing a nuclear war, which ensures the cold-blooded execution of the just and the unjust. Of course, no conscious person mourns for the murderer of his people, the religious, that is, the leader of the Iranians, but he is saddened because this murder comes from the head of another state, violating every concept of law. War has changed, it has become electronic... and the heroes who once sacrificed themselves for their homeland will no longer exist. The rule of law has been dismantled, institutions, values, human ideals have disappeared.
The Greek island of Cyprus has been suffering the pain of war since the beginning of hostilities, Greece was the first to support it, and it is surprising how some Greeks express their opposition to this patriotic move. Turkey has already – undoubtedly for its own reasons – sent F-16s to the occupied parts of Cyprus, arguing that, as the guarantor power of the island, it has a contractual obligation.
It may seem excessive, but I believe that it is necessary, in the face of the delirium of the power of the powerful, for us Greeks, but also our European allies, to look back to our wise Plato and his work The Republic or On Justice, which has had an influence not only on philosophy, but also on political theory. The word Republic means the character of a society, its polity, and the Latins expressed it with the corresponding res publica (state of the people). A long and important dialogue takes place in this work regarding the definition of law, justice. The speakers disagree with each other and Socrates partially agrees with everyone, but he does not consider any proposal to be sufficient to function as a definition of justice. Thus, they all investigate how this can be applied to the city and agree that justice should be defined as the axis of balance between Ethics and Politics. It is precisely this approach of ancient philosophers that can inspire, but also guide, the work of modern politicians.
As long as electronic weapons and hostilities, essentially executions, continue, the fear of a Third World War risks becoming a reality. The Europe of peoples and values is being contemplated and its stance is neither unified nor dynamic, as it should be, disagreements are even expressed among the EU's foreign policy leaders. The only ray of light is President Macron's initiative and his meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece and the President of Cyprus.
I believed that we were experiencing a cultural transition, but after the latest political developments, I realize that we are experiencing ruthless exploitation on the part of the "great powers", the powerful of the Earth, who possess the economic and military powers and believe that these allow them to occupy countries, trampling on all national sovereignty!
How do the powerful Trump and Netanyahu imagine that Iran will surrender and they themselves will impose the regime and the prime minister they desire in Iran, a country with an ancient civilization, a theocratic regime, almost 50 years old, and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps? Without the will of the people, which is even divided by religious obsessions, the duo of destruction will not achieve its goal. The only certain result will be the loss of thousands of people, responsible and irresponsible, and the impoverishment of the survivors, for many years. Of course, the deeper ambition of the two invaders for the conquest of the world and the primacy in nuclear weapons, always with money as the goal, will be satisfied, because as KYR characteristically writes: "A world war is the mutual killing of many peoples. 2 to 3 people stand on the winners' podium and the gold medal goes to the gold medalist..."
