Good evening.
The lies linking me to the disgraced Jeffrey Epstein must stop today.
The people spreading these lies lack moral principles, humility and respect. I am not bothered by their ignorance, but I reject their malicious attempts to defame my reputation.
I was never friends with Epstein. Donald and I were occasionally invited to the same social events as him, which is common when there are shared social environments in New York and Palm Beach.
To be clear, I never had any relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. My response to an email from Maxwell cannot be considered anything more than a formal, polite communication. It constitutes nothing more than a trivial exchange.
I am not a victim of Epstein. Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump. I met my husband by chance, at a party in New York in 1998. That first meeting is described in detail in my book, Melania.
The first time I was in the same room as Epstein was in 2000, at an event that Donald and I attended. At the time, I didn't know him and had no knowledge of his criminal activities.
There have been many false images and claims circulating on social media in recent years linking me to Epstein. Be careful what you believe. These images and stories are completely false.
I am not a witness or named as a witness in any case related to Epstein's crimes. My name has never appeared in any court documents, depositions, victim statements, or FBI interrogations related to the case.
I never had any knowledge of Epstein's abuse of his victims. I had no involvement in any way. I was never on his plane and I never visited his private island.
I have never been legally charged or convicted of any offense related to the Epstein case and his heinous crimes.
The false accusations against me, by malicious and politically motivated individuals and organizations seeking financial or political gain at the expense of my reputation, must stop.
My lawyers and I have successfully fought these baseless allegations and will continue to defend my reputation without hesitation. To date, several individuals and companies have been legally required to publicly apologize and retract false allegations against me.
Now is the time for Congress to take action. Epstein did not act alone. Many powerful men resigned from their positions when the case became widely publicized. This does not necessarily mean guilt, but the truth must be investigated transparently.
I call on Congress to give Epstein's victims a chance to be heard in a public hearing, centered on the survivors themselves. That they be given the opportunity to testify under oath before Congress and have their testimony officially recorded.
Only then will we be able to get closer to the truth.
