A firefighting team from the Municipality of Distomo, Arachova, and Antikyra with 4X4 flexible fire engines, with volunteers and led by Mayor Yiannis Stathas, was on the fire fronts of SE Viotia all day today, helping to contain the fires.
The correspondent of Greek News & Radio FL in Boeotia, L. Dimakas, informs us about the development of the large fire that is in full swing in the area.

The AIA Municipality maintains and equips such teams for surveillance and immediate intervention in incidents within its borders, but always rushes where there is a need – nearby or further afield!
Last year, without any fanfare, a group of volunteers with the mayor found themselves in Mountainous Corinth – in fact, they were all quietly awarded for their combative participation!
It is characteristic of their participation in the "front line" and their knowledge of the terrain from Parnassos and Helicon, that the firefighters in the area not only know them but also advise them on paths and... the vagaries of the wind on the mountain.

A video we obtained today shows Viotia MP Giorgos Moulkiotis providing first aid to the Mayor of Distomo, Arachova, and Antikyra, Yiannis Stathas, with a concussion due to the thick smoke and ash today at noon on the fronts in Thisvi, Domvrena, Agios Nikolaos, etc.
