Our daily lives have become so depressing, with unprecedented events in Greece and America, so I will be forgiven for an amusing play on words: "Everything money "Man is the measure of all things" (man is the criterion and measure for all things) said the sophist Protagoras. Today, however, the sophism is completely opposite: "Money is the measure of all men"!
We live in a society, where institutions they collapse and human logic is questioned. Values, ideals, visions are out of date, money dominates and for its sake wars disappear thousands of people every day.
The planet's leader, allegingly, is trying to bring peace, and his burning desire remains to win the Nobel Peace Prize. He seeks to glorify himself as a leader of the West against illiberal regimes, ignoring the great difference in values between the West and the East, in terms of religion, but also the loss of human life. In these holy days, President Trump should reflect on himself as a "peacemaker", the peace that Christ sought, because it did not come from the imposition of power and material interest, but from faith in a society that would defend human rights from injustice.
This injustice is also affecting Greek society. An authoritarian state dramatically degrades the rule of law and manipulates Justice, both in the case of Tempi and in that of OPEKEPE, while clientelistic relationships of entanglement and corruption "decorate" our country! The government's response to these miserable phenomena is the establishment of an incompatible minister and MP for the purge of the rusfet!
Regarding the clientelist system, Francis Fukuyama has pointed out that all countries that acquired democracy, before forming a state, were eroded by clientelism. Greece (like America) established almost universal suffrage very early, in 1844. Its massive expansion in a poor, rural, and poorly educated society prompted parties at the time to use the clientelist state as a tool for political mobilization of voters, and thus this strong clientelistic tradition developed, which plagues society to this day.
Justice, however, for the atrocious phenomena caused by this rascal, is not served by regulations for its suppression, which, moreover, has been sought for years. Justice demands the punishment of the guilty. Greek society demands explanations for the unjust loss of life in Tempi, as well as for the injustice caused by the agricultural subsidy scandal.
"Injustice can no longer be tolerated!" is the anthropocentric discourse of Nikos Kazantzakis, in whose work "Brothers" the father-in-law Giannaros, during the years of the Civil War, unable to bear the inhumanity, stands between the two factions, desperately trying to reconcile them, and wonders where justice lies.
Phew! Human rights are still sought today...
