To those who think that Greece does not matter today, let me say that they could not make a bigger mistake. Today, like old Greece, is of the utmost importance for anyone looking to find himself.

Seminar for Greek Teachers "I sing and learn with Mr. Tasso"

13 May, 2024

With Tassos Ioannidis, creator of the songs "Cabbage and Hahana"

The Association of Young Greek Teachers in collaboration with the Schools of Language and Culture of the Greek Community of Melbourne designed an interactive educational workshop entitled "I sing and learn with Mr. Tasso".

The workshop is addressed to kindergarten teachers, teachers and theater teachers, and aims to enrich the teaching practices of teaching the Greek Language through Music.

Presenter of the workshop, the well-known composer and songwriter Tassos Ioannidis, whose love for children is, as he says, the source of his creation, as a large part of the work is inspired by his experiences as a father of three children. With the aim of turning the learning process into a game, he created the series of children's educational songs, books and plays "Lahana and Hahana".

In the seminar, Mr. Ioannidis, with his guitar, will collect his songs that are related to the needs of the Greek schools in the parish and that can be divided into four thematic sections.

  1. Letters, shapes, colors, days.
  2. Classic songs, in new performances.
  3. Grammar songs.
  4. Songs of emotional education

It will teach teachers techniques, practices and games to help them motivate their students to more easily master vocabulary as well as grammatical forms and structures through song.

As he himself typically states: "If the teacher succeeds in making the lesson a game, so that the child learns without realizing that he is learning, then learning becomes an experiential experience. Children's emotional intelligence is in operation and the brain's neuron imprinting system in action. The imprint on the children's memory is indelible, full of the colors of the experience. Learning becomes a joyful process!

The interactive training workshop will take place on Saturday, 18 May, from 2.30-4.30pm, at St. Gregory the Great Primary School (396 Manningham Rd, Doncaster) and is provided free of charge to all Greek language teachers.
