A Cooperation Agreement was signed between Athens Medical Association, the Hellenic Medical and Dental Association of New England, the World Hippocratic Institute of Physicians and the Pancyprian Medical Association, at the Malioteio Cultural Center, as part of Hippocratic Week taking place in America.
Through this cooperation, the promotion and strengthening of relations between the above medical bodies is achieved, the protection of the rights of doctors, the strengthening of research and medical innovation, as well as the achievement of common educational and scientific goals. Particular emphasis is given to issues concerning the medical community and public health, such as prevention, the development of medical educational programs and the promotion of topics of common interest.
The President of the Athens Medical Association, Dr. G. Patoulis, stated:
"Today's signing fills us with great joy and signifies a lot. It constitutes a substantial promise of cooperation, so that Greek doctors can meet, exchange knowledge and experience and offer the best possible result to medical science and society".
The meeting, on behalf of the Hellenic Medical and Dental Association of New England, was attended by the Vice President Mr. I. Glavas and the Secretary General Ms. K. Sampanis, who wished a good start to the cooperation and expressed the expectation for a substantial strengthening of the ties of the scientific community in the future. The Pancyprian Medical Association was represented by the Secretary General of the World Hippocratic Institute of Physicians, Dr. A. PolydorouThe executive director of the Maliotei Cultural Center, Ms. Chrysoula Kourkoundi, was also present.
As part of the event held at the Malioteio Cultural Center in Boston, the 1st International Symposium on Greek Oriental Heritage and Identity was also held, which was organized by the World Pontic People's Organization with Mr. Ioannis Apazidis as president. The symposium's proceedings focused on topics related to historical memory, culture, as well as the contribution of the Greek diaspora to science and society. During the symposium, the President of the Athens Medical Association, Mr. Patoulis, delivered a speech, making special reference to Pontic Hellenism and the Pontic genocide.
