The Secretary General of Hellenism Abroad and Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ioannis Chrysoulakis, participated as a speaker in the High Level International Conference "Sustainable Development and Regional Integration in the Mediterranean within the Current Context of Security Challenges and Threats", organized by the Ministry of National Defense . The Conference took place in Air Force Academy and concerned the consideration of sustainable development and regional integration in the Mediterranean within the current context of the geopolitical environment in the region. Ambassadors, officials, military attachés, representatives of foreign military missions and University Professors from sixteen countries participated.
The speech of the Secretary General, on "Mediterranean: A sea of friendship and cooperation. Challenges and prospects", focused on the role of strategic partnerships, programs and initiatives promoted within the EU, but also between the EU and its Mediterranean partners, for the promotion of the rule of law, the protection of human rights as well as for political stability in the Mediterranean region . Mr. Chrysoulakis focused on the main areas where the biggest challenges exist, including international security, climate change, unbalanced economic development and political instability, underlining that the countries of the Mediterranean region are a key partner for the EU Concluding, Mr. Chryssoulakis expressed his belief that the efforts of the peoples and states of the Mediterranean to establish lasting peace in the region will succeed, pointing out that, through cooperation, the Mediterranean will become an area of friendship, cooperation and peace.
