Available via the new version Gov.gr Wallet is the Greek passport from today. In this way, Greek citizens with ordinary active passports can add it to the available documents of the application and use it both for identification and as a travel document within the country. An exception to the passports stored in the application are service and diplomatic passports, which are the responsibility of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Citizens can install the Gov.gr Wallet application via wallet.gov.gr on Android and iOS.
The passport is the 13οthird document included in the Gov.gr Wallet. It is recalled that the Police Identity Card, the Driving License, the Digital Disability Card, the Digital Unemployment Card (DYPA), the Ring Badge for free access to the Athens Ring Road, myAuto with vehicle information, the Academic Identity Card, the Speedboat Operator's License, the Insurance Capacity, the Pets, the points in the Driver Behavior Control System and the Real Estate File are available. To date, more than 2.516.405 police identity cards and 1.984.991 driving licenses have been issued and stored in the application.
The design and development of the service was carried out by the General Secretariat for Information Systems and Digital Governance and the National Network for Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA – GRNET) of the Ministry of Digital Governance and Artificial Intelligence, in collaboration with the Ministry of Citizen Protection and the Hellenic Police. Citizen data is obtained through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat for Information Systems and Digital Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance and AI.
