President Donald J. Trump returned yesterday to the birthplace of his iconic no-tips policy to highlight its great success and the transformative impact of the largest tax cuts in American history.
Standing next to workers in Las Vegas, President Trump showcased how his groundbreaking reforms put more money directly into their pockets, a relief that every Democrat in Congress voted against.
More than 53 million Americans have taken advantage of at least one of President Trump's new tax breaks, including six million taxpayers who claimed a tip deduction of more than $7.100, and more than 25 million taxpayers who claimed a tip deduction of $3.100.
Workers in Las Vegas are feeling the impact directly:
"I got the biggest tax refund of my life this year just because my tips were no longer taxable. This is something that should have been normal for years," said one local resident.
"It helps a lot, honestly, so I'm really grateful for that," said one waitress.
"It was amazing," said a bartender.
"It gives me a little more breathing room with rent, gas, food... It's a benefit," said another waitress.
"Instead of having 75 cents, you have a dollar. That counts for a lot," said a local restaurant owner.
From not taxing tips and not taxing overtime to a full package of historic tax cuts, President Trump and Republicans are putting American workers first, increasing take-home pay, offering bigger tax refunds, and reversing the Biden-era inflation that crushed families in states like Nevada.
Americans deserve to keep more of what they earn, and under President Trump, they finally are.
