To those who think that Greece does not matter today, let me say that they could not make a bigger mistake. Today, like old Greece, is of the utmost importance for anyone looking to find himself.

The age of the absurd

The age of the absurd

The age of the absurd

The age of the absurd

It is time now that those with a common mind ask themselves if they are thinking correctly, and if what is happening in our country, and not only, has anything to do with logic! The pandemic, of course, also affected our mental world, it strengthened individualism, but also the distancing of man from man.

These days humanity was shocked by the tragedy of the migrants in the speedy fishing boat, which sank in Greek waters, off Pylos. How many human souls, including little children, were lost? The exact number is unknown. Who is to blame? The traffickers? Was the search and rescue process done correctly or not? And the tragic question that arises: to what extent was the rescue of the immigrants allowed? Because, there is no longer any doubt that the indifference and also the hypocrisy of the leaders of our European family has exceeded the limits. The phenomenon of the disappearance of migrants with the help of traffickers is chronic and usually goes unnoticed. This time the excessive number of people brought the tragedy to the surface.

Traffickers are the "tool" of crime, and the impossibility of arresting them raises many questions. But the crime is committed by the powerful of the land, whose economic interests do not allow them to stop the wars, with the disastrous consequence of the increase of immigrants and the inability of the countries to absorb them. War can never be humane, it can only be abolished, Einstein believed, and it is an indulgent shame for the European Union to support it, which betrays its principles and values. The visionary of the E.U. Robert Schuman  in its declaration it emphasized: "World peace cannot be maintained unless creative efforts commensurate with the dangers that threaten it are undertaken."

In Greece, the tragedy of the immigrants coincided with the pre-election period and ended up being the subject of competition between the parties, and the national mourning came to cause the far-right to cry!

Added to the consequences of the pandemic and austerity are those that come from the lack of objective voices, people of spirit, who with their words or pen can help citizens understand what is happening. Conflicts always have a political color and citizens weakly crawl behind the interests of the big ones, who are responsible for their actions. Civilization has evolved, humanity has been discredited, solidarity has been ignored and logic has been left out!

If we refer to the book by E.R.Dodds: The Greeks and the irrational, translated by G.Giatromanolakis, we will find satisfactory answers to the irrationality of our time. The Irish professor of Ancient Greek Philology, recognized in the scientific field worldwide, opened new paths in the research of the ancient Greek culture with his book. The professor diligently studies the horses, the outside, i.e. logical elements, which make up the human personality. He even proves with testimonies that the ancient Greeks from the time of Homer are a people full of prejudices, superstitions and fears, and that they move between the right reason and the horse situations.

The problem of immigrants will be perpetuated as long as the wars continue, and the problem of resettlement of immigrants will not be solved unless the European Union returns to its values and ideals, to the principles of its visionaries, who declared that "Europe will be formed in of concrete achievements, which will first create a real solidarity".
