The offenses that seem to be borne by a former worker in a child care structure, concern 91 children, as the authorities conclude, for the case that shocks the whole of Australia.
The charges include 136 counts of rape, 110 counts of sexual offenses against children under 10, all against the 45-year-old worker from the Gold Coast. The offenses took place in Brisbane, Sydney and overseas and all took place between the years 2007 and 2022.
The investigation was undertaken by the Federal Police in collaboration with both Queensland and South Wales Police. The triple police force eventually arrested the 45-year-old, who has been held in Queensland for a year. The original 2022 charges were for the production of child exploitation material and use of a material transport service.
Authorities are talking about one of the most horrific cases of child abuse in Australia, and the most tragic thing is that the offenses - involving pre-teen girls - happened inside ten child care centers. In fact, one of the victims was only one year old.
During their investigation, authorities located child pornography on the dark web at a known Brisbane child care facility.
It should be noted that over 45 related photos were found on the 4.000-year-old's personal computer, as well as on his mobile phone.
And while the victims, 87 of whom are Australian citizens, have been identified, it is not yet clear what happened between 2013 and 2014 when the 45-year-old briefly worked overseas. To clarify this, the police are working with foreign agencies to identify victims, which is rather difficult as the 45-year-old does not disclose the countries in which he worked.
The deputy head of the Federal Police spoke of "a test for the families of the victims, but also for those who work in the custody structures".
For his part, the deputy chief of the New South Wales Police, states that this is one of the most horrific cases he has come across, since what the 45-year-old committed is unimaginable.
What is impressive is how the 45-year-old always managed to remain unnoticed, despite the controls, mainly of the structures, which have strict control standards for staff recruitment.
The accused will appear before a Queensland Magistrate on August 21, where he will be questioned and then extradited to New South Wales to face the charges pending against him.
