In the 21st century, the phenomenon of division has hit the Opposition as a whole.
The fierce conflict, which largely determined the course of Greece for decades, first manifested itself with intensity in 1915 in the form of a disagreement between the prime minister Venizelos and King Constantine. The phenomenon escalated continuously and resulted in the formation of two rival centers of power in Greece. This national division into Venizelists and anti-Venizelists lasted 20 years, and was a deep schism in Greek society and politics in the 20th century.
In the 21st century, the phenomenon of division has struck the Opposition as a whole. In recent years, the SYRIZA has been dissolved... from the roots, with the New Left and the Kaselakio Left... and the PASOK is struggling with the conflicting views of its political council. A new division of the democratic parties is a dangerous phenomenon for the political life of the country. The ruling Right has disappointed the citizens with unpopular measures, culminating in the miserable handling of the Tempi tragedy, while at the same time the divided opposition demands a vote against the government and elections. As, therefore, there is a lack of a unified political discourse that could gain the trust of the citizens, who at the same time desire the stability of political life in the country, the government faction continues to remain in first place in the percentages of the parties and its participation is essential in the next elections. This is unfortunately due to the lack of understanding in the democratic space, even when it is necessary. The divisive tendencies, which seem to flow in our blood, always lead to a dead end, or even to useless actions.
A capable governor is therefore sought, because the people see no prospect of governance from the existing parties. Citizens remain in waiting and choose "nobody" first. They have lost their trust in politics and institutions. These very citizens will determine the next government, whenever the elections are held. The only certainty is that the Tempi tragedy will remain the black page of N.D. and will always mark it. And it is obvious that Tempi remains decisive for developments. Despite the demand, in fact, of the entire society for justice to be served, the reshuffle of the government left the Minister of Justice in his place, clearly declaring that he adheres to its principles of justice! If trust in democratic institutions is not regained, there is a danger lurking for the country's political system. It is, moreover, regrettable to be informed from abroad that the European Parliament has expressed concerns regarding rule of law issues and incidents of corruption, which also threaten the funding of our country by the European Union.
Despite the messages coming from the governments of European countries about the need for consensus and cooperation between parties, in Greece our politicians insist on the traditional association of Right - Left, and thus they get lost in the alleys... The Freedom Voyage is lurking to... float, and is impressively increasing its percentages in the polls, absorbing all the dissatisfaction and disappointment of society with politicians. And it is indulgently naive for the leaders of the opposition, each in their own way, to dream that they will be the next prime ministers. They should finally land and make the leap in time, because the patience of the citizens has run out.
A first step of the Opposition's support was, of course, necessarily taken to express distrust, given the failure, and a second for PASOK's proposal regarding the composition of the preliminary investigation, with... this development also incomprehensible, and with uncertainty among citizens about who serves the rule of law! The third attempt remains... move!
The well-known ancient saying "Strength in unity" should finally become the conscience of the opposition parties.
