After saying goodbye to our dead from the new national tragedy in Tempi and since various criminal investigations in Greece and in the EU are ongoing regarding the responsibilities, we should talk honestly about the deep pathologies of modern Greek society, in Greece and Cyprus. It is not possible to stay in anger and blame each other, but to succumb to the unconscious "nepotism" that the tragedy highlighted.
An example of the pathogenicity that consumes us is the unconscious party... mutation. In the previous national tragedy with the murderous fires in Mati during the SYRIZA Government, dozens of human lives were lost again, but most of the SYRIZA officials suffered ... muteness, while the opposition mourned with repeated comments, posts and photos. Now, in the tragedy in Tempe during the New Democracy Government, the roles were reversed. Those of SYRIZA mourn angrily, counting the dead and assigning blame, while most of the ruling New Democracy fell into silence, waiting for ... a nod from the prime minister. In such moments the value of the thoughtful and active citizen emerges, who, instead of cursing the politicians, our bad fate, the powers within or without, realizes his individual responsibility for the fragile ones who survive while tolerating them. We recently had partisan unconsciousness in Cyprus as well. After the first round of the presidential elections, the leaderships of the two party "enemies", DISY and AKEL, who have been at each other's throats for years, after seeing their electoral percentages, decided that it was beneficial to fall into a temporary ... "passionate political love".
Fortunately, in recent events there are also those that save hope, with a striking example of the cases of passengers who stayed in the carriages to save others at the risk of all being killed. There was a case where one rescued more than ten injured people. This is how hope was saved from such high-quality patriotism in everyday life.
Dangers lurk everywhere, but the risk of accidents in the military (air force, navy, infantry, artillery, etc.) is inordinately greater than anywhere else. However, the staff operates with conscientious patriotism, manifesting a deep sense of responsibility towards the country and others, an attitude that I wish would prevail collectively elsewhere...
I left last Fr. Christodoulos, father of Kyprianos who was killed in Tempi, who prayed from the beginning that everyone would be saved, including his own child, sensing his role as a spiritual Father and as a parent. When his child was found dead, forgiving those responsible, he washed his martyred body full of wounds, like the incense-bearers of the Crucified, and buried him, placing on his coffin the blue and white that Cyprian loved so much. Asked if he had a chance to say two or three words to him, he replied that he would wish him a "Happy Resurrection". This resurrection funeral with orthodox Christian joy gives hope for salvation beyond the worldly, just as hope is given by the cultivation of conscientious philanthropy in everyday life for the advancement of modern Greek society in the worldly.
