Popi Balamoti – Spita was born and raised in Trikala, Thessaly.
She studied Greek Philology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Athens. For 25 years she served as a Professor in Public Secondary Education in our country.
She has published eleven poetry collections, the monograph The Mother in Modern Greek Poetry, the children's novel The White-Browed Girl and the historical novel for adults The Odyssey of the Uprooted.
Her literary work was recognized with distinctions in national competitions in poetry, short story, novella, vignette and novel.

Awarded:

a) for her poetry collection for children Davlos photo-covered by the "Union of Greek Writers" (2005)
b) by the "Women's Literary Society" for her poetry collections Blooming Lilies (2007), Good Morning, Sun, 2013st Prize (2016) and for her novel The White-Browed Girl (XNUMX)
c) from the "Café of Ideas" for the novella for teenagers Polydama the Dark One (2005)"
She was also awarded for many of her individual poems and short stories by various organizations, starting in 2001 with the 2004nd Prize of the "Piraeus Association" for her poem "Law of Life" and with the XNUMXnd Prize also "Ilia XNUMX" for her short story "In the Shadow of the Ancestors".
Her book Trikalina II received the "Agis Theros" folklore competition award from the "Society of Greek Writers" (2018).
He served as Secretary to the Board of Directors of the "Panhellenic Society of Speech and Art" (PELT) and participated in the publication of its newspaper Speech and Art, in which he regularly wrote articles.
Because she is also systematically involved in the visual arts, painting and iconography, she combines verbal expression with visual depiction and expresses not only with words but also with paint the lyricism of her literary inspiration.
In 2006 and 2007 she was General Secretary of the "Panhellenic Union of Writers" (PEL) and was responsible for the Delphic Poetry Games.
He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the National Society of Greek Writers (EEEL) and a regular member of the Society of Greek Writers (EEL), the Association of Historical Writers (SIS), the Women's Literary Society (GLS), the Greek Children's Book Circle (IBBY), the Philological Historical Literary Association of Trikala (PHILOS) and other literary and cultural associations in Athens.
P.M.-S. has two sons, Mechanical Engineers, University Professors and three grandchildren, who, with their childlike grace, replenish her maternal channels of affection and hope.
