The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, welcomed the US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, at the Ministry of Citizen Protection, today, Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
The Minister's introductory meeting with the Ambassador, in the presence of the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Demetrios Mallios, took place in the context of further strengthening the cooperation that exists between Greece and the USA.
The Minister referred to the close cooperation that traditionally exists between the Services of the two countries on issues of Terrorism and organized crime, but also on issues of protecting our country's borders, which, as he emphasized once again, are also European. The issue of preparing, together with the other EU Member States, for the implementation of the Visa Waiver Program was also raised, an issue to which Ms. Guilfoyle underlined the importance, which President Donald Trump himself gives to all those who want to travel to the USA for leisure or business purposes.
Furthermore, Michalis Chrysochoidis, speaking about crime issues, emphasized that Greece is a pillar of security in the Eastern Mediterranean, noting that the country has low crime and cooperates closely with American authorities to combat crime in the Western Balkans.
For her part, the US Ambassador warmly thanked both the Minister and the Chief of the Hellenic Police for the security services provided by the Hellenic Police and expressed her confidence in the continuation of the good cooperation between the two countries. Finally, she referred to the interest in possible investments by American companies specializing in security issues.
The meeting was attended by High-ranking Officials of the US Embassy in Greece and Senior Officers of the Hellenic Police.
