Today, Greece celebrates with great joy and reverence the Feast of Our Lady of Tinos, marking 201 years since the finding of the Holy Icon of Magalocharis on the Holy Island of Tinos. For two centuries, the Virgin Mary of Tinos has stood as a bright beacon of faith and hope, with the Greek people drawing strength and comfort from her divine presence.
Since the day of her discovery, the Virgin Mary has been the source of countless miracles. Official rulers, kings and prime ministers, such as Theodoros Kolokotronis, have come with respect and loyalty. Theodoros Kolokotronis, with his tama, honored the grace of the Virgin Mary, showing his devotion to the Great General of Freedom.

In addition, the Greek faithful, recognizing the divine protection of the Virgin Mary, have constantly asked for and received her grace and miracles. The Virgin Mary, as the Mother of God and of all people, never forgets her children. She generously provides her grace, heals every disease and cures every wound, while the countless silver candlesticks hanging around her Holy Icon bear witness to her miracles and benefits.
On the solemn feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, the Metropolitan of Syros and Tinos, Mr. Dorotheos II, officiates with majesty before the Rear Admiral of the Fleet, the Chief of the Fire Department, the Mayor Mr. Krontiras, the municipal and regional councilors, and the myriads of believers that flood the Holy Island from every corner of the homeland.

The faithful, with faith and reverence, climb hundreds on their knees up the uphill path from the harbor to the Holy Icon inside the surrounding Holy Temple. They arrive, worship, cry and revere, expecting the blessing and miracles of the Virgin Mary. The Virgin Mary rewards them with her divine grace, showing them the way of salvation.

All together we sing with soul and heart:
"When she gave birth, protect the Virgin, when she was sleeping, do not leave the world, Theotokos. You have transmigrated to life, Mother existing of life. And your embassies, redeeming our souls from death!"
Be born!
