XENOPHON MOUSSAS, Professor of Space Physics (ret.),
The National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has served for 40 years as Head of the Space Physics group that he has established, Director of the Laboratory of Astrophysics of the University of Athen (for 30 years), Director of the University Astronomical Observatory, Senator of the University of Athens. Research: Space Physics, solar wind, the Sun, heliosphere, cosmic rays; He participates in experiments on board spacecraft (NASA/ESA WIND/WAVES, STEREO/WAVES); Titan, Enceladus, Mars, History of Astronomy, The Antikythera Mechanism.
He has created hundreds of exhibitions (in 14 languages) about the earliest known computer and the history of Greek Astronomy and Astrophysics around the world (NASA, UNESCO, The Parthenon, several Museums, Planetaria, Universities, many Schools). Author of several books and articles. Supervisor of numerous PhD, MSc, BSc theses.
Awards include American Geophysical Union for excellence in refereeing, GRL, 2001, NASA Group achievement, Ulysses spacecraft, 2009, Honorary doctorate of the International Academy of Education and Science, Ukrainian Institute of Science and Cultural History, Pontic Institute, Ukraine, 2017.
