The immediate ecological restoration of the fire-afflicted national park of Dadia, at Evros region, was announced on Tuesday by Environment & Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas and Deputy Minister Giorgos Amiras.
The fire “was controlled in good time by the state’s coordinated interventions under the orders of the relevant government authorities, and the restoration process is already underway,” noted Skrekas.
“Respect for the environment and its protection always was -and it still is- a fundamental commitment for our government,” he added.
Deputy Minister Amyras emphasized that “the restoration of biodiversity and the natural capital in the forest of Dadia is a top priority for the ministry and that is why we are working closely with local authorities and environmental organizations.”
He added that “the areas of the national park that have been affected by the fires are being demarcated, mapped and thoroughly studied so that the necessary restoration management measures can be implemented immediately.”
