"As our great Elytis pointed out, "one day the past will surprise us with the power of its relevance!"
During the long election period we are experiencing, an ad hoc event was organized by INERPOST at the initiative of the Emeritus Professor and former Minister Lucas Katseli for the presentation of the policy proposals, which were expressed in the context of the "Productive Greece 2030+" two-day conference by distinguished scientists and representatives of civil society and were included in a book under her editorship entitled "The Greece that Does Not Wait".
The presentation focused on ten implementable interventions for a self-reliant and sustainable development path for the country, marking the transition from dialogue and the elaboration of proposals to the public presentation of a democratic national strategy centered on the People for a self-reliant, fair and productive Greece of active citizens.
The distinguished speakers, important figures from the judiciary, political life and local government, focused their proposals on the need for institutional reforms, social justice and productive reconstruction. All proposals aimed at ensuring public and common goods and services for a modern development of civil society.
Can Greece wait? Greece today needs a new national compass, stressed Louka Katseli, a plan that combines security, prosperity, development with social justice, active citizen participation and regaining trust in democratic institutions. Two words were heard, moreover, that respond to the question: “unyieldingness” of the people, and “change” of the political scene. Looking back at the past, we find that the great changes, which our people are still waiting for, came from capable political leaders who inspired the people to move to claim their rights and bring about change. Such politicians, unfortunately, are lacking not only in our country but also in the whole of Europe today, and the results are obvious.
We thus reminisce about the past, which, as our great Elytis pointed out, "one day the past will surprise us with the power of its relevance!"
