The most experienced bettor will hesitate to attempt a prediction for the upcoming elections in Greece, as this is the first time, I believe, that such party reversals are occurring, according, of course, to opinion polls, which for various reasons are not fully appreciated.
The New Democracy (ND) has been firmly in first place, and having already governed for two four-year terms, is marching for the third consecutive term, anticipating self-reliance for the first time in the history of elections. Despite the ravages of time, the installation of a system for monitoring political figures, but above all the provocative violation of the rule of law, it continues to have a significant difference from the second party, unscathed by the upheavals of the political scene.
PASOK, as the main opposition, a historic party, which one would expect to surpass the ruling party and aim with certainty to become a government in the upcoming elections, has unfortunately embraced the needle and does not intend to abandon it except with its possible move to third place!
The E.L.A.S….Greek Left Party occupied the second place with its first appearance, due to the…amnesia of the voters. The New Left was dissolved, SYRIZA is collapsing, the “manufactured” Democrats remain after the abandonment of SYRIZA by its leader. Power is sweet for the former Prime Minister who discredited his comrades with whom he occupied the prime ministership, and is now struggling to govern, having destroyed his own party.
I will not go into the other parties that are being tested by the ups and downs, nor the … politically untested Elpida, and the possibly under construction Samaras party. The Greek citizens, who, unfortunately, often show immaturity, protesting after the elections about the situation prevailing in the country, while they themselves have caused it with their vote, will face in the upcoming elections an unprecedentedly fragmented Left, an exhausted historical socialist faction and a Right, which despite the scandals and dissatisfaction that they cause, insists on governing, having only fear of the as yet undeclared creation of a party by the former Prime Minister.
This is our beloved Greece of heroes and the... incorrigible, who will be called upon to choose a governor, apparently, in a year at the latest.
