The results of the second national elections confirmed the triumph of K. Mitsotakis, but at the same time spread fear because of the... hidden party of H. Kasidiaris. The originality of our country in the 2023 elections is unique. Sovereign government, non-existent Opposition and the rise of fascism!... Let the "machine God" put his hand in.
V. Venizelos in his recent article interprets in his own scientific-political way the phenomenon of the ...flowers of the Far Right and their relationship with H. Kasidiaris: "The truth is that this relationship with Ilias Kasidiaris is officially revealed through statements of the party Spartans. I think thanks were expressed with great fervour on both sides and political enthusiasm for this identification. This indeed shows that it was circumvented the prohibition of participating in combinations, who are associated with persons falling within the prohibitions of the law and this is a legal and institutional failure of the struggling democracy, which was explicitly accepted as a theory by the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court with these two, very important, decisions that it issued on the exclusion of combinations from the elections".
It is said that young people vote against the system, and that many of them voted for the "Spartans". The question, however, is firstly, if they are mature enough as voters at the age of seventeen and secondly, if they have the correct knowledge of the anti-systemic. With insufficient education, young people experience a society distant from the democratic principles and ideals of European culture, culture, that is, with the roots of classical antiquity.
The phenomenon of the rise of far-right parties is not strictly Greek, and the European leaders of the countries threatened by it should wake up and look back on their cultural path. Moreover, the phenomenon of immigration, which they also ignored, has reached an alarming level.
The changes, which the re-elected government is advocating, are based on four key ministers, Justice, Education, Health and Culture, former worthy officials of the social democracy. Can we hope, after this impressive opening of the Right to the Movement for Change? Has the new Change really come?
It is a fact that the pandemic has disrupted normality in this place, and this lack of normality I fear continues! In the pre-election campaign, the citizens faced an Official Opposition opposing the PASOK-KINAL opposition, giving both together, like a broken orchestra, the image that they are not at all interested in governing, at a time when the ruling party was clearly fighting for self-reliance, constantly emitting optimistic messages. And it turned out that citizens choose stability despite all the adverse conditions they experience, and not uncertainty. After all, people never lack optimism!..
After the two elections, citizens - and there are not a few who did not vote - are dizzy with the Right, which has crossed the line, as it has become not just a government, but a dominant order of things, carrying various risks, even taking into account the extreme right ruling opposition. The former Official Opposition is collapsing along with its leader, and PASOK-KINAL, having survived, despite the blows from both sides, is trying to regain its credibility.
The journalist and political analyst Antonis Karakousis pointed out in his article that "as long as the extent and depth of the shifts in society are not identified and a deep treatment of the economic, social and political conditions is not attempted, the opposition will remain fragmented and weak". Undoubtedly, this is the necessary, but also very difficult project, required by the democratic Opposition, and it requires strength, courage, and time...dum spiramus speramus!
