A housing programme for vulnerable young people aged between 25 and 39, dubbed Kalypsi, was launched on Tuesday with the signature of a Joint Ministerial Agreement by the relevant ministers.
Beneficiaries under the programme must be recipients of the minimum guaranteed income and will be housed in private properties, for which the state will pay the rent.
The aim, initially, is to house up to 3,000 beneficiaries and make use of at least 1,000 residences, with implementation due to begin in March. It forms a part of the government housing policy for young people and the rented properties will be those used to house asylum seekers under the “Estia” programme that ended in December.
